Some smashing graphic design trends for 2019

We all know how you feel about graphic design trend articles: everybody writes them, nobody reads them. Why? Maybe because sometimes we feel as some information comes naturally in our minds, when in fact reading and understanding what is going on around us is essential. Design helps us understand our world, and trends place us in time.

We believe that trends tend to make us think inside the box, so below we are opening a list of directions in which graphic design is going. Feel free to add extras and, why not, make the most useful article on the entire net.

 Reintroducing humanity back into design

Apps and websites have become so cold over the past years. Images with real people are now “outdated” and old fashion, but the truth is we need more of that. Here’s a cool example of “human design”

What do you think about that? Flat design is indeed very calming and safe, but let’s not forget we are all human and we should stay that way.

Return to analog

Mailchimp was the early pioneer of the Return to Analog era, and I believe we are going to see a lot of analog in the future.

While other software giants are simplifying their branding, Mailchimp is keeping it quirky. Mailchimp itself was responsible for pioneering the kind of friendly, humorous design you see everywhere in tech nowadays, which was radical when the company first launched in 2001.  Now, they are taking design to a whole other level.

3D design

And everything else. These days, 3d is not an idealistic idea about how the world will look like, but how the world actually is. 3D typography especially feels just about ready to pop. The best part about it is there’s no particular type that works best for this trend (or object) : bold, skinny, sans-serif, script, any font can be rendered in 3D.

Asymmetrical layouts

Nowadays, designers are looking to create products that feel more bespoke and alive. This passing to asymmetrical layouts breaks the boundaries imposed by the rigid and predictable grid. They deliver more movement to the design, as you can see in some of the designs made by Creative Tim.
