1.Goodbye Less, welcome Sass

One of the biggest changes is switching from Less to Sass via Libsass Sass Complier written in C/C++ Bootstrap 4. The advantage of this change is that now Bootstrap compiles faster than ever and also Sass has a huge community of users or developers. Now you can customize styles such as color, spacing, link styles, typography, tables, grid breakpoints and containers via _variables.scss file.

  1. I’m new to this Bootstrap thing and I’ve heard and read about Twitter Bootstrap too. Are they the same? or are they totally different? or they’re similar?

  2. @Vince,

Yes they are the same thing. Whenever you read someone talking about “Bootstrap” or “BS3” they’re usually talking about Twitter Bootstrap.

You should get into it, it’s pretty amazing. I’m very excited for BS4 for the flexbox integration and cards, game changer!

  3. It’s probably worth mentioning that as of now Bootstrap 4 is only an alpha release. It’s unknown when the beta will be released. You can expect a lot more to change in terms of classes/components between now and the final Bootstrap 4 release, so developers should be aware of this before starting with Bootstrap 4.

  4. Bootstrap is a super well known frontend system designers use to rapidly make delightful sites. The system has really been a progressive apparatus discharging engineers from the torment of building responsive sites starting with no outside scratch.
